The history of the machined top internal thread softdrink bottle in Australia evolved from the earlier applied top bottles. From the English Barrett Patent.
Australian manufacturers were quick to use this ever popular patent from circa 1890 onwards. In fact these bottles were used in Australia through to the 1960's. A good long period of use. One of the dominating Companies to make everyday use of the bottle was the well established business of Marchant & Co. Their red ceramic labelled bottle with the pineapple design is very much still in peoples memories today.
